Protecting Your Hair When Using Heat...

I know it's hard not to use heat on your hair. But, the reality is heat is just really bad for your hair. So, if your going to use heat on your hair (Which I 100% recommend you, do not do everyday), please, please I urge you to really deep condition your hair and do hot oil treatments on your hair on a regular basis.

Also, ALWAYS ALWAYS use a heat protectant. Heat is the number one reason for hair breakage. It causes split ends and even can cause your hair to thin. I, myself, use CHI 44 Iron Guard Thermal Protection Spray. It maybe a little expensive but it's definiately worth it. It really protects the hair. I've also heard BioSilk has a great heat protectant as well.

Find a heat protectant thats good for your hair and use it everytime you use heat on your hair!!!!

BEFORE YOU DYE, BLEACH, PERM, OR RELAX YOUR HAIR!!!

Since chemicals such as dyes, bleach, relaxers, and perms are so harmful to the hair, I suggest that if you absolutely desire to use chemicals in your hair YOU MUST GIVE YOUR HAIR A HOT OIL TREATMENT. This is very important because all chemicals can cause a lot of damage to the hair. Hot Oil treatments are also good even if your hair is natural. I promise you will see a great difference in the feel of your hair after. Hot Oil treatments helps nourish the hair and stop breakage. I usually give my hair a hot oil treatment every 2 weeks. You can either buy one or make your own. I make my own, here's the recipe I use...

1. Mix equal amounts of...
Olive Oil
Coconut Oil
Castor Oil
Honey
and dab of rosemary
into a microwavable container
2. Place the container and oil in the microwave until warm. CAUTION: PLEASE TEST THE TEMPERATURE OF THE OIL BEFORE APPLY TO HAIR!!!!
3. Apply oil throughout hair and scalp
4. Place a plastic cap onto the hair and wrap a towel on top of the plastic cap
5. Wait an hour or longer if possible, then rinse and shampoo the hair as normal...

Shampoos Reviews

I wanted to post the products that I currently use now, but I switch between different products depending on the condition of my hair at the time. Also, sometimes I use like 2 different shampoos or 2 different conditioners. So, I thought it would be more helpful to just post the products that I think work really really well. Then, you can go out and read the labels and choose which one would be better for you and your hair type. Ok, so this blog will be about shampoos and I'll post about conditioners and other products soon. Here are some awesome shampoos. They all work really well, just depending on the condition of your hair...

ApHogee Deep Moisturizing Shampoo - This is the one I am currently using

Biotera Ultra Moisturizing Shampoo - I trade off with this one

Nexxus Therappe Luxurious Moisturizing Shampoo - I love this one

Garnier Fructis Moisture Works Fortifying Shampoo

Optimum Stay Strong Shampoo Anti Breakage Therapy

Creme of Nature Ultra Moisturizing Shampoo

Neutrogena Triple Moisture Professional Cream Lather Shampoo- This one works reeeaaalllly good. I ran out so thats why I'm not currently using this one

Organic Root Stimulator Oline Oil Creamly Aloe Shampoo - I've never used this one but my sister uses it and she loves it.

Lighten Your Hair Without Harmful Chemicals...

This is a way to lighten your hair without using any kinds of chemicals and for cheap. It should only cost you about $2. Now, this really does work as I have done it many of times. However, it takes time. You only need two ingredients...

50% Water
50% Lemon Juice

You basically just mix the two together and apply is to the hair you want lightened. You can lighten all of your hair or just sections. Then sit out in the sun for a few hours. Don't forget your sunscreen for your skin. Next, wash everything out. Make sure you use a good moisturizing conditioner because the lemon juice can dry and stiffen your hair.

Remember, you won't see a drastic change and it does take time but it's way better than apply harsh chemicals like bleach to your hair. Oh and while your out, you might as well make yourself some ice cold lemonade.

As you know, there are probably millions of different shampoos on the market today. However, there are really only 3 types of shampoo. The purpose of this article is to explain each type of shampoo and help you select the right type of shampoo for your hair type… Ok, here we go…

Conditioning and/or Moisturizing Shampoo. This type of shampoo is designed to keep hair smooth and shiny. It helps make hair more manageable and helps avoid damages to chemically treated hair. These shampoos work to help restore hairs moisture, elasticity, and strength. This shampoo works best for people with dry or brittle hair types. It is also recommended for African American hair.

Medicated Shampoo. Usually these types of shampoos contain chemicals and drugs. They are usually very strong and can even change hair color. These shampoos are used for reducing dandruff and other scalp problems.

Clarifying Shampoo. It contains acidic ingredient which eliminate product and residue buildup. It also increases the shine to hair. This type of shampoo is recommended for people will oily hair. However, using this type of shampoo to the hair in a regular or daily basis can led to over washing the hair which can lead to breakage. This shampoo should be used only once a week.

Why Your Hair Isn't Growing???

A lot of people are always wondering... I'm doing everything to make my hair grow but it just won't grow long. Why does my hair keep breaking off? Why is it taking so long for my hair to grow? Is my hair even growing??? I think my hair stopped growing... So, I put together a list if things that will for sure cause hair breakage and stop your hair from growing...

Excessive brushing and tearing of the hair.
Brushing hair while it is still wet.
Hair pins, clips, rubber and elastic bands

Not drinking enough water
Poor nutrition
Stress
Chlorine and Salt Water

Over perming and dying
Bleaching hair
Chemicals
Over washing
Too much washing
Glue-in weaves
Using too much gels and sprays
Braiding hair too tight
Tight ponytails
Teasing hair
Not getting a trim

NUMBER 1...Too much heat. The main cause for hair breakage is usually always putting too much heat on the hair. For example, pressing and flat ironing your hair everyday is a sure fire way to hair breakage...

Please beware of these things. I wish someone would have told me this a long time ago...

Best Conditioner Ever!!!!

Hello, hello hello...

I just wanted to share with everyone what I use to condition my hair. If you want long hair, I cannot express the importance of conditioning your hair. Conditioning your hair stops breakage. Without conditioning your hair, your hair will not grow long. But, any who this is what I use when I condition my hair...

After washing my hair with shampoo, I use a protein enriched conditioner. Why??? Because, your hair is dead proteins... Just trust me on this...

Next, massage mayonnaise into your hair and scalp. Let sit for as long as possible. I usually keep it in my hair all evening and all night. Make sure you use a plastic shower cap. This locks in the moisture. You can also sit under a dryer if you have one. There are also a lot of mayonnaise products on the market... I have tried quite a few but regular mayonnaise straight from the kitchen worked best. I recommend trying regular mayonnaise from a jar before going out and buying expensive products

I will be writing a blog on product reviews pretty soon... Check back... Good Luck!!!!

Get Rid of Dandruff For Good!!!

OK, so I used to have dandruff really bad and so did my sister... But, my sister had it really bad... She didnt just have the flakes but she had harden dandruff build up all over her scalp. We both tried countless shampoos. I used all my doctors suggestions. None of it worked. I also spent a lot of money as well. But, I found this homemade recipe that works amazingly out of a book one day. I already had the ingredients in my kitchen so I said why not try it. It was so funny, my mom pouring stuff from our kitchen into my hair... But, it got rid of all my dandruff. I also told my sister and mom about it and it worked for them as well. It's cheap and it really works! You probably have all the stuff in your own home. Try this out if it doesn't work you can just return the items to your kitchen. LOL! OK, here's the secret... Get ready!!!

Mix lemon juice, vinegar, and water together
Apply it to your hair....

Sounds easy right???

Well, just make sure you massage it into your scalp and watch out for your eyes. For even better results, leave it in for 30 minutes. Because I wanted the dandruff gone fast, I leave it on my hair all night while I sleep. In the morning I just rinse it out... Also, give it sometime... Nothing works over night but after a week you should see tremendous results... Also, try coconut oil... You just massage it into your scalp and leave it on as long as possible as well...

Good Luck!!!
